6. Ice Treatment

If the swelling of the foot is caused by an injury, applying ice on the swollen foot will reduce the swelling. Ice helps reducing the amount of local bleeding and it reduces the swelling. Ice packs must be used for 10 minutes every few hours. There are various ways of applying ice, from frozen vegetables to specially designed ice packs. The ice shouldn’t be applied directly on the skin, otherwise it can cause freeze burns.
